When all the dust settled it was Jared with the win at 2ft 2inches 2nd place went to Nate at 2ft anf 3rd place went to Jack Donohue with 1ft 8inches

We have to give it up to the Mongoose Stomp for holding up to all the abuse from the last few events this year. The bike held up way better that we expected. We thought the cranks would’ve surely be broken by this point lol! The only real issue with the bike was the front end. Mongoose use the old school style head tube. The forks had to screw into the headset which left us with upgrade options for the stem. Our handlebars kept slipping during the contest. With that said we’ll probably have to retire the Stomp from our event for next year. Hopefully we’ll get a replacement.

So what is a fat Bike you ask?

A fatbike is a bicycle with over-sized tires, typically 3.8 in (97 mm) or larger and rims 2.6 in (66 mm) or wider, designed for low ground pressure to allow riding on soft unstable terrain, such as snow and sand. Fatbikes are built around frames with wide forks and stays to accommodate the wide rims required to fit these tires. The wide tires can be used with inflation pressures as low as 5 psi (340 hPa) to allow for a smooth ride over rough obstacles. A rating of 8–10 psi (550–690 hPa) is suitable for the majority of riders.

Fatbikes were invented for winter trail riding and racing in sub-arctic Alaska on the Iditarod Trail and simultaneously, for touring the deserts of New Mexico. They are extremely versatile bikes, capable of traversing diverse terrain types including snow, sand, desert, bogs, mud, pavement, or traditional mountain biking trails. At The Sugar Cayne Bike Fest we’ve added a bunch of fun competitions for Fat Bike riders to do like:
1.Bunny Hop (Hop your bike as high as you can over a height bar)
2.Longest Skd (Pedal as fast as you can then slam the brakes to see how far you can skid)
3.Best Style (How much style, flow, smoothness and even tricks can you get on the track)
4.Longest Wheelie (Pick up that front wheel and try to keep it up for as long as possible)
5.Bike Relay (4 Riders team Up for a Bike Relay Race around the track against other teams)
6.High Jump (How high can you jump?)
7.Last Straight Dash (A Head to Head, elimination style race)
8. Cyclocross Race (Riders do 10 laps around a BMX track in the opposite direction)

We’ve separated the age groups into 6-9year year olds, 10-14, 15-29 and 30&over. The age groups are also separated by gender (Male and Female)

Registration starts at 9am and the competitions will begin at 11am.

There will also be a Bike Swap happening the same day so if you have any bikes or bike parts that you want to sell bring them to the event!

Out of all the kids Mikey Cox was shredding the bike the most! he was boosting pretty high on the Mongoose and surprisingly the bike was holding up! The bike had to be more than half Mikey’s weight and he was killin it. He even jumped a set of double with the bike during the Fat Bike Best Style competition. It was awesome to see!

We’ll be bringing the Stomp on all our stops of the remaining 2015 SCBF events. It’ll be available for all the 14 year old and under riders competing at the event. See you there!

At each stop on the Sugar Cayne Bike Fest Tour we have the Fat Bike King and Fat Bike Queen series.
How it works is like this, there are 6 different Fat Bike specific competitions that riders can sign up for:
Bunny Hop
High Jump
Long Jump
Longest Skid
Fastest Gate
Last Straight Dash
Fat Bike Race
Riders get points for each competition they compete in. The riders with the most total points out of all the Fat Bike competitions at the end of the day gets named King/Queen Of MTB.
Riders will be competing within their age/gender groups.
There will also be a King/Queen of BMX, Cyclocross and Fat-Bike series so bring all your bikes and come through.

The Fat Bike High Jump competition is part of the Fat Bike King and Fat Bike Queen Event that we have at each stop on the SCBF Tour this year. The rider with highest cumulative points from all the Fat Bike competition from the day will be named the King or Queen of Fat Bike. Those competition include:
High Jump
Long Jump
Bunny Hop
Longest Skid
Fastest Gate
Last Straight Dash
8x (8 cross race)

We broke up the genders so males will have their own King Of Fat Bike series and females will have their Queen Of Fat Bike series.
We also broke up the ages in groups (6-9, 10-14, 15-34, 35&Over) age groups may change due to rider count.

Riders will compete against their peers with in their age group but everyone in their respective gender will be competing for points to be named King Or Queen.

Riders get points for every competition they enter, the rider with the most points from all the competitions combined will win the Fat Bike King or Fat Bike Queen award.

All age groups of the same gender will be competing against each other for points.  The top 3 riders with the most points will be awarded.

For those of you planning to compete at multiple SCBF events this year, you can also compete for the 2015  Fat Bike King/Queen series title. The rider with the most points of all the 2015 SCBF Fat Bike events competitions combined will be named the 2015 Sugar Cayne Bike Fest Fat Bike King or Queen. Our last stop for the 2015 season will be held Trumbull T.R.A.C.K. in Connecticut.
